This week we study the early settlement of Victoria from 1834 to 1901. It is a period of significant change in Victoria as settlement spread out from Port Phillip Bay to rural areas, dislocating Aboriginal Victorians and resulting in conflict between the existing and the new populations. You will use primary and secondary sources to construct an account of contact and conflict and you will identify the different perspectives of settlement of settlers and Aboriginal Victorians.
